Mission Statement
The Institute for Frontier Science (IFS) is a nonprofit corporation founded in 1996 to promote research and education at the frontiers of science, technology, wellness and healthcare, consciousness studies, and mind-body-spirit integration. As an independent laboratory, IFS was established to explore novel scientific and health-related discoveries and concepts that are considered unconventional, but nonetheless hold promise for future knowledge and practice.
There are always phenomena that do not fit the scientific picture of the world, because the universe is deeper and more complex than our worldview has allowed us to explore. Such phenomena show up as contradictions or anomalies that challenge conventional understanding—and they are typically ignored or dismissed by the mainstream. However, well-documented anomalies may be fit together like pieces of a puzzle leading to new breakthroughs. Consciousness studies, subtle energies, the scientific basis of alternative and complementary medicine, and the interface of science and spirituality are some of the key frontier areas today. The Institute for Frontier Science conducts pioneering research in these areas and communicates its findings to professionals and the public.
Research Interests
IFS has conducted various studies on subtle energies and psychophysiology in relation to health and healing. Changes in the energy fields of the human body have being monitored for human subjects in various states of consciousness, extraordinary experiences, health, illness, and energy healing. The purpose of this research is to explore: (1) the human biofield in health and in disease; (2) consciousness in relation to energy emissions associated with the human body and environment; (3) how energy medicine works; and (4) how electrosmog affects living systems.
Research Projects in Progress
- Detection and Characterization of Bioenergy
- Wireless Devices and our Health
Facility
IFS maintains a laboratory and office at 4067 Watts St., Emeryville, California, with scientific equipment to conduct research on water, microbes, plants, electronic systems, and human subjects. Both basic and clinical research studies have been accomplished.
Publications
A book, Life at the Edge of Science, consisting of papers by Dr. Beverly Rubik on the frontiers of science was published by IFS in 1996. Since then numerous research reports have been written based on research projects accomplished at the IFS laboratory, many of them published in peer-reviewed journals. These include papers on anomalies in science and medicine; information flow in biology and medicine; acupuncture; the human biofield; Reiki; qigong; biophoton emission from organisms; properties of water and colloids in relation to the living state; diet and the blood; and human exposure to cell phone radiation.
Educational Events
Lectures and workshops by distinguished frontier scientists and scholars from around the world are occasionally hosted by IFS in the San Francisco Bay Area.
