(Roscoff Marine Station)
Located on the Brittany coast of the English Channel in France, the Station Biologique de Roscoff was founded in 1872 by Henri de Lacaze Duthiers, Professor at the Sorbonne University, who was attracted by the exceptional variety of biotopes in the area.
Today the Station Biologique de Roscoff is a renowned research and training centre in marine biology and oceanography, jointly operated by the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) and the Pierre & Marie Curie University (UPMC).
Research:
the areas of expertise of the four CNRS research departments at the Roscoff Station are

– developmental biology, physiology;
– reproductive biology, genetics;
– population genetics and ecosystem functioning;
– biological and chemical oceanography.

The Roscoff Marine Station is one of the three marine stations of the Pierre and Marie Curie University.
