Association of American Geographers A.A.G.

The Association of American Geographers (AAG) is a nonprofit scientific and educational society founded in 1904. For more than 100 years the AAG has contributed to the advancement of geography. Its members from more than 60 countries share interests in the theory, methods, and practice of geography, which they cultivate through the AAG’s Annual Meeting, scholarly journals (Annals of the Association of American Geographers, The Professional Geographer and AAG Review of Books), and the online AAG Newsletter.

The AAG promotes discussion among its members and with scholars in related fields, in part through the activities of its affinity groups and more than 60 specialty groups. The meetings and activities of our regional divisions provide the opportunity to network with colleagues near you.

Projects and Programs: The AAG offers a variety of programs and special projects to support the work of geographers in the U.S. and internationally. We also provide services for geographers and academic departments seeking to enhance diversity, obtain disciplinary data about geography, and conduct outreach activities with youth. Geographers in developing regions may wish to take advantage of a membership program that provides a full suite of benefits at substantially discounted rates.
